2009 Sauvignon Blanc / Semillon

This wine comprises of 80% Sauvignon Blanc and 20% Semillon. Altogether the fruit had 8 hours skin contact prior to pressing. This wine was 100% barrel fermented with predominantly larger barrels used. All went through natural yeast fermentation. The extended lees contact helps fill out the middle palate and gives this wine the extra dimension it is known for.

Tasting Notes:

The nose of the 2009 Sauvignon Blanc Semillon shows grapefruit with herbaceous overtones. These flow onto the palate adding more complex fruits including lychee and kiwi. The refined acid combines with these and produces a well balanced wine with good length making this a great food wine. This wine will cellar for at least 10 years.
